On the 30th November the Fylde Rugby Development Fund (FRDF) was launched to the matchday hospitality guests ahead of the National One game between Fylde & Richmond. The Club's newly appointed full-time Rugby Development Coach, Dan Birchall, made a brief speech to introduce himself and outline his development role.
Club Treasurer Rob Parr then launched the first FRDF fundraising venture - the Half-Time Prediction Competition. He pointed out to the guests that all the funds raised from this and future events would be specifically devoted to the Club's development programme, working with schools, universities & colleges as well as with players at all levels, from Mini-Juniors to the senior teams to spread the message about our great game and to increase participation.
Rob will be announcing after every event how much has been raised and this will be visually & prominently displayed in the Clubhouse.
The Prediction Competition requires each person to guess the total points scored at half-time. It is £5 per prediction or £20 for 5 predictions. The winner receives 25% of the takings. At the Richmond game the half-time score was 22-14 and the correct prediction of 36 points was made by Mandy Mill. There were total takings of £380 so she won £95. Therefore, the money raised for the FRDF was £285.
Rob said: "I am hoping that we can raise this much or more each game. I will be asking Dan to come up to the Woodlands Suite ahead of each game and to tell the guests about what he has been doing and what he is planning on doing in future weeks. We really need the support of Members, hospitality guests, sponsors and business partners to get behind the FRDF."
